Set among landscaped gardens on the banks of the Huon River at Huonville, this fine a la carte restaurant is set in a classic 1918 mansion that retains many of its magnificent period features such as stained glass and hand-painted doors and ceilings. The home’s name ‘Duvida’ means ‘by the river’. Hosts Ray and Trudi Griffiths offer fine fare that uses the best of produce from the Huon Valley and offshore waters. Magnificent seafood is a house specialty – Bruny Island oysters, local salmon, mussels, crayfish (seasonal) and scallops. Highly recommended is the fresh trevalla, a deep sea thick flesh fish (not to be confused with trevally) with no bones – a real steak of the sea.

Huon Manor specialises in quality seafood and features many of the wonderful seafoods for which Tasmania is renowned. The food is superb, with good sized servings and exceptional quality. A selection of Tasmanian Cheeses served with delicious quince paste made in the Huon Valley is the perfect way to top off your meal. On cooler days, there is an open fire to keep you warm and cosy.

“What a find and a revelation The Huon Manor was to us! The food was beyond compare for a bistro. From the excellently prepared menu through to the warm and very friendly staff a fine evening was guaranteed. After being greeted and seated by Trudy, we were made to feel very comfortable immediately. The Bruny Island oysters were sublime, the prime eye fillet was prepared by Trudy’s husband Ray ( Chef and Raconteur Extraordinaire ) to a perfect medium rare and was mouth watering! For dessert we enjoyed the passionfruit pannacotta and finished the evening with an excellent glass of Pedro Ximenez and Ray regaled us with some very funny tales…what an evening, the most memorable in a long time. I should also point out we enjoyed a fabulous Huon Valley Pinot Noir from the Highland Brae vineyard nearby. Don’t miss this wonderful establishment. We’ll be back!”
